VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH-FEBRUARY

st pat's tournament pics 340Congratulations and thank you to Michelle Florea, the Chapter's Volunteer of the Month for February 2012! This recognition for Michelle, who has been a member since 2009, is long overdue, as she has actively worked to support and improve the Chapter since almost the beginning of her membership. Michelle has volunteered to help with organization of weekend play and is currently an active and contributing member of the Handicap Committee where she is working to improve the handicap page of the Chapter's new website. Michelle was also a positive leader of the Chapter last year when differences arose among the members, giving her time and skills to help find solutions to members' complaints. Michelle is a great ambassador for the Chapter, encouraging women to join and play golf. You will often find Michelle at Colony West where she hones her golf skills as a member there. When she plays at or visits Inverrary in February, Michelle will enjoy the EWGA reserved parking spot provided by our friends at Inverrary. Please join us in thanking Michelle for her efforts on our behalves. If you'd like to thank her personally, she can be reached at fraiche@comcast.net.

Friends & Lovers Golf Tournament

It was a gorgeous day for our annual Friends & Lovers tournament at Jacaranda, which was great fun with 68 players in the field. We welcomed several new members and people participating in their first tournament, as well as many old and dear friends. While some teams struggled to keep the pink ball for the whole round, first place of the tournament went to the team of Deb Sisson, Stephanie Adorno, Gertrud Klaehre, and Debbie Silverman. Val Temkin and JeanDenk won closest to the pin for the ladies, and Jack Merklein for the men.

Following the round we all joined at the 19th hole to warm up for a wine tasting with Toast to Humanity, an extraordinary dinner, prizes, raffles, and fun with friends. A very special thanks to the event committee: Joann Shulman (chair), Lori Ostrowski, and Angela Kirk, for organizing this wonderful event. Thank you as well to our sponsors, Bonnie Skop from Toast to Humanity for donating wine, and Agatha Sapak from Laird International for prize donations. Special thanks to our members for the many donations for our Vietnam Vets.

It turned out that for a day of friends and lovers, lots of friendship and
loving was had by all!!
